Simplified postage services coming in May
From early May, we’re updating and simplifying our postage services offerings to provide the most relevant services for sellers. There will also be improvements made to the way postage options and estimated delivery time are displayed to buyers.
- All postage options offered, along with the estimated delivery time, will now be displayed prominently throughout the buying process – at the top of the item page, during checkout and on the order details page.
- From mid-September, all sellers on eBay.com.au must specify at least one domestic postage service. By specifying your shipping service you better manage your buyers' expectations on shipping cost and time.
- The postage services list will be updated. New service names will replace existing services to specify the carrier and type of service (eg Regular is changing to ‘AusPost Regular Parcel Post’)
- Time values will be added to all services (eg 1-3 days)
- Redundant services will be removed (see Updated list of postage services below)
- Generic Standard, Express and Expedited services will be offered for use with carriers not listed in the services selection drop-down eg Temando, Fastway, DHL or Smart Send
- Freight will be introduced as a new method for large and bulky items. This method allows sellers to specify their own postage rates in the item description
- Optional buyer charges for postage insurance to be removed. By removing optional or required postage insurance, we are adjusting to help meet buyer expectations for ecommerce and aligning with industry standard practices.
If you don't specify any postage services, you must update your current listings. Your current listings will need to include at least one domestic shipping service from mid-September. If you do not currently specify your shipping service you should start updating your listings as soon as possible.
If you already specify postage services, read through the updated list of postage services so that you understand the changes.
Good 'Til Cancelled Listings
Good 'Til Cancelled (GTC) listings will not re-list if shipping services are not updated by the time they become mandatory from mid-September. You should update your GTC listings as soon as possible to ensure they don't expire.
