Manual tracking information for posted items
In early April, we’re introducing a new postage feature that will allow buyers to easily track the whereabouts of their eBay purchases.
Why the change?
We’re aligning with current ecommerce standards and offering a more professional service to buyers. The inclusion of tracking information on posted goods will help to manage buyers’ expectations as to when they can expect to receive their goods.
Benefits of uploading tracking information
Providing tracking information benefits sellers in a number of ways:
- Improved Feedback and DSRs: When buyers can track the progress of their posted item, they’re more satisfied and tend to leave higher DSRs
- Seller efficiency: Providing tracking information and delivery confirmation reduces time spent answering postage-related buyer questions
- Seller protection: Postage tracking information plays an important role in the eBay dispute resolution process. It is seen as ‘evidence’ in the event an Item Not Received case is opened
These are the ways you can upload tracking information to your sold items:
- In My eBay, go to the Sold section
- Select the check box next to the item or items for which you want to add a tracking number
- Click the Add Tracking Number button
- On the Add/Edit/Delete Tracking Number page, enter the tracking or delivery confirmation number
- If eBay can determine the carrier you're using, such as Australia Post or Fastway, we'll pre-fill that information in the Carrier box. Otherwise, enter the name of your carrier
- Click the Save button
- Once you've uploaded tracking information or delivery confirmation, it appears in the following places:
- My eBay
- Automated Order Update email
- When you upload tracking, we'll send your buyer an email with the postage tracking number so they can be confident that their item is on its way
- The buyer is then able to click through ‘tracking number’ on the item to open the postage details pop-up screen
- The buyer can then click the tracking number to view the tracking information for the item
Automatically upload tracking numbers using the eBay AusPost Flat Rate Satchel through Click and Send
