Resources for law enforcement investigations

Law enforcement officers and government agencies in Australia seeking assistance and records for investigations relating to eBay or PayPal may contact the GAP team for assistance.

Resources available to law enforcement officials only are:

• Law enforcement and government agencies already registered on eBay’s system can submit their eBay data requests through the Law Enforcement Portal (LEP). A Single Point of Contact program is currently being rolled out in Australia, please check your police intranet for updates.
• eBay or PayPal data requests coming from Australian law enforcement or government agencies, without access to LEP, can be submitted through eBay’s eRequest system (please refer to the guides below).
• For general information, please email eBay. Note: this service is dedicated to law enforcement officers only and inquiries from members/general public will not be responded to. Customer Support can be contacted by clicking on Customer Support on the eBay.com.au homepage.

Save time in your investigation

The following tips are for law enforcement agencies to assist in your investigation:

1. Search for active listings using search string or specific item number:
   • Lets you search by nearest post code using search options in left hand column.
2. Search by seller ID for all active/completed sales, dating back 30 days:
   • Generally provides you with the seller's state of residence.
3. Feedback Profile reflects comments made by other users regarding prior transactions.
4. Create your own Favourite Searches.
5. eBay listings remain visible on the site for about 90 days after closing, searchable by specific item number.
