Starting Now

Review your listings using our guide to good listing practice to help get the most out of the new features launching in 2012 that put more emphasis on the need for high quality listings.

Act now to ensure you get an automatic 5-star DSR for Communication starting in May. Simply specify same-day or 1-day handling time and upload tracking information by the end of the next business day. Then, starting in May, on transactions where there is no communication between you and your buyer (exclusions apply) and the item is paid for using PayPal, you’ll receive an automatic 5-star DSR for Communication.

Familiarise yourself with the fee changes coming in May.

In April

14 April: Classified Ads with Best Offer format will no longer be available in most categories. Classified listings will still be available in select categories. You won’t be able to make revisions to an existing Classifieds with Best Offer listing. If you need to revise your listing, you should end your listing early and create a new one.

14 April: Fixed price and auction-style formats will be removed from the Real Estate category. Sellers will only be able to list in Classified Ads format in the Real Estate category. Existing listings in auction-style or fixed price formats in the Real Estate category will not be able to be revised. If you need to revise your listing, you should end your listing early and create a new one.

Week commencing 30 April: Category updates will take effect. While you may not be required to take any action, it is recommended that you check your listings to make sure they are listed in the appropriate categories.

In May

The following listing upgrade features will start being removed from eBay.com.au via a phased approach in May 2012:

  • Bold
  • Border
  • Featured Plus
  • Highlight
  • Home Page Featured
  • Value Pack
  • Listing Designer.

2 May: Opt in to use business policies as soon they’re available in My eBay and most eBay listing tools, to manage your own custom settings for postage, returns, and payment information easily from one central location, rather than specifying the information separately on each of your listings.

16 May: Fee changes take effect on eBay.com.au. Read about these changes.

16 May: Pictures are FREE for all sellers. Read about how to make the most of free pictures.

16 May: Current Basic Store subscribers: Upgrade to Featured Store now and take advantage of additional features including:

  • 10 additional customisable pages in your Store
  • Advanced Store traffic reporting (includes visitor path analysis and bid and Buy It Now tracking).

To upgrade from Basic Store to the new Featured Store offering:

  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in
  2. Place your pointer over the Account tab, and then click Subscriptions
  3. Click Change Level to the right of your Store name

In June

The new product-based buyer experience will be live in the following five electronics categories:

  • iPads, Tablets and eReaders (category # 171485)
  • Camera Lenses (category # 3323)
  • Televisions (category # 11071)
  • Video Games (category # 139973)

Target buyers by associating your existing and future listings in the above electronics categories to a product in the eBay catalogue.

Late 2012

The Basic Store will retire later this year. Basic Store subscribers who have not already done so should migrate to the new Featured Store offering.

To upgrade from Basic Store to the new Featured Store offering:

  1. Go to My eBay. You may be asked to sign in
  2. Place your pointer over the Account tab, and then click Subscriptions
  3. Click Change Level to the right of your Store name
  4. Select a level, and then click the Continue button.

Show same day dispatch on your listings: If you currently provide same-day delivery, but this is not reflected in your listings, update your listings with the new same-day delivery option through business policies, My eBay or eBay selling tools.

Include reasons for longer handling time: If your item needs a handling time of more than three days, select a reason to explain the longer handling time for that item through business policies.
