Seller changes coming to eBay.com.au

Helping you compete and succeed

Online retail is growing – and growing fast. In fact it’s predicted that Australian online retail sales will increase from $29.7 billion in 2011 to $34.8 billion in 2013*.

Buyers have more options than ever before, so they expect more from their shopping experiences. High quality product imagery and descriptions, free & fast delivery and money-back returns are no longer exceptions, they’re the rule! And, in 2013 eBay will be updating the Top Rated Seller program to provide increased visibility to sellers offering these services.

We’re committed to helping you compete and succeed in this rapidly-evolving online world. eBay believes the upcoming changes and enhancements detailed below will help you manage your time and performance whilst meeting or exceeding buyers’ expectations.

Boost your sales with high quality listings and superior service

Enhanced functionality for multi-variation listings

From September 2012, eBay will be introducing a number of new features and enhanced functionality for multi-variation listings within the Clothing, Shoes and Accessories category.

Show your item location to increase buyer confidence

From October 2012, sellers will have a new, easier way to specify item location on listings. When you enter your valid postcode, your suburb and state will be automatically added to your listings.

Greater 'Item Condition' clarity for buyers

From October 2012, in addition to selecting an Item Condition Value when listing an item, you'll also be able to provide further condition-related information in the new 'Item Condition Comments' field. This field will be available for all items that are not Brand New.

Share your listings through your social network

The recently launched Social Sharing Widget lets you and your prospective buyers share your listing through social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. In conjunction with the launch of the Social Sharing Widget, links to social sites are no longer permitted within item descriptions.

Important fee changes to Basic and Featured Store subscriptions

From 15 September 2012, the monthly subscription fee for Featured (and until it’s retired, Basic) Stores will increase from $24.95 to $49.95. This increase has become necessary as the fee changes made earlier this year (most of which were reductions) incentivised more sellers than expected to take advantage of Stores pricing.
