Simple steps to selling

Welcome to selling on eBay!

Here are some simple  steps to help you get started.

Register as an eBay seller

Set up your seller account – it only takes a few minutes

To begin selling on eBay, you need to create a seller account.

Get ready to sell

Research similar items

  • Search or browse similar items and completed listings on eBay to see how other sellers describe similar items, how they are priced, and what categories they typically list similar items in
  • Take digital photos of your item. Upload up to 12 pictures for free
  • To help prepare for listing your item, see the Seller checklist.

Sell, sell, sell!

Now you’re ready to list your item

  • Go to the eBay ‘Sell Your Item’ form by clicking the Sell tab at the top of any eBay page
  • Enter a few words in the box about the item you’re selling, and click the Start Selling button
  • You may need to sign in. Note: if you’re not registered on eBay, you will be asked to register. If you haven’t sold before you’ll be asked to create a seller’s account
  • You’ll then be guided through the listing process.

Manage your listing

  •  Track your sales in My eBay. This page is especially useful if you have more than one item for sale.

Complete the sale

Great customer service + speedy deliveries = happy customers

  • At the end of a successful sale, you’ll receive an email from eBay that includes your buyer’s postal address and payment method
  • Send your buyer an invoice by email
  • Once you’ve received payment, post and pack your item well, and dispatch within the handling time you indicated in your listing
  • Email your buyer to let them know you’ve sent the item and include any tracking details
  • Follow up on any questions or concerns from your buyer, and don’t forget to leave fair and accurate Feedback.

Congratulations! You’re an eBay seller.
